Top 5 Matte Lipsticks For Winter

Today I posted this post on Instagram highlighting two of my new favorite matte lipsticks – Desert Rose and Frosting from Clove + Hallow… and I was blown away with all the messages I received from followers asking about them.

After seeing how interested you all were in matte lip products, I decided to do a roundup post of my top 5 matte lip products.

I am obsessed with nude shades, it’s pretty much all I wear. That, and reds and dark plums… but a nude lip is definitely my go-to currently, so my top 5 list consists of mostly that!

I also only wear matte lip colors because I don’t like the feeling on regular lipstick/lip gloss. It grosses me out, haha.

If I don’t have a matte lip color handy, I usually just use a lip liner pencil and color my entire lip with it because anything but matte bothers me!

Here are my top 5 matte lip products I’m currently loving (and the Clove + Hallow shades you girls asked about today):

Must-Have Mini Bags

So, I know I’ve been completely MIA since I started law school in August. I had every intention of continuing to blog full-time while going to law school full-time…. but, clearly, I underestimated the time commitment of law school. No worries though! I take my last final this coming Friday and then I am off for an entire month!

I decided that I am going to pre-plan a ton of content during that month to make posting and blogging easier come spring semester, so I’m not completely gone again for another 4 months. So, yaaaaay.

As you can see, my obsession with mini bags is still alive and well… and after receiving this mini bag from Shop Nami Style a few days ago (p.s. that bag is currently 30% off with promo code “TREAT30”), I felt inspired to do a round up of all my fav mini bags out right now.

With Christmas right around the corner, I made it a point to make sure these mini bags are all on sale right now and/or super affordable!

I hope you love these as much as I do:

WEEKLY SERIES: 15 Under $50

Hey loves! I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

I apologize, I am a bit late with this post. I meant to put it up last Friday… but per usual…life got crazy! With our house currently on the market (read my “5 Things I Wish I’d Known About Buying a House at 19” post here) we’ve been crazy busy preparing for showings and such.

Nonetheless, I am excited to be putting this post up today! For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my recent story asking what people would like to see. I’ve been wanting to do a series of some sort for awhile now, so I asked if followers would rather see a “15 Under $50” series, or a “Designer Looks For Less” series. Obviously, as you can see by this post, 15 under $50 won, but there was still a lot of interest in Designer Looks for Less… so I’ll be putting up designer “dupes” on my IG stories from time to time – so stay tuned.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THIS SERIES

Each week I’m going to compile a list of my favorite 15 items under $50. Instagram voters expressed they’d rather I not stick to a theme, so I will put anything I’m loving; from clothes, makeup, shoes, accessories, apartment decor, etc. I often know where alllllll the deals are… so if there is a certain item you’re loving or looking for, shoot me a DM or email and I will find it on sale for you.

HERE ARE THIS WEEK’S 15 PICKS Under $50

As you can see, I’m really obsessed and all about summery 2-pc sets, bamboo clutch bags and jean skirts right now. I also get tons of DMs on my #10 pick – those adorable black cut off framed sunglasses (only $8.90 right now)!

I hope you love these picks as much as I do – stay tuned for next week’s! xo

Trend Alert: Polka Dots

One trend I’ve been seeing everywhere lately is… polka dots!

Bloggers and trend setters around the globe are talking polka dots this year – from LA fashion blogger, Brittany Xavier of Thrifts and Threads, to German fashion blogger, Monika of Mon Mode, to the hugely popular Aimee Song of Song of Style…. and everyone in between.

So, after lots of Pinterest pinning in my “Style Inspiration” board… I decided it was time for me to give this trend a try.

I MUST ADMIT, AT FIRST, I WAS THINKING TO MYSELF… “NEVER WOULD I WEAR POLKA DOTS.

It just typically isn’t “my thing” to wear prints at all, let alone colorful ones. But after I kept seeing different ways of styling polka dots on social media and Pinterest, I was inspired and decided to give this brick orange and cream polka dot dress a go. I’m happy to now say, I like polka dots (every now and then)!

My consensus: I like the polka dot trend, but would still probably opt for simpler pieces like my below black and white picks. I love the Polka Dot Shorts below – I’d wear them with a this black silk and lace tank I have and a pair heeled mules like these – obsessed.

HERE ARE MY TOP POLKA DOT PICKS TO SHOP (ALL UNDER $100 AND MOST UNDER $30)!

01. Forever 21 Polka Dot Maxi Dress

02. Topshop Polka Dot Midi Dress

03. Boohoo Polka Dot Tie Skirt

04. Topshop Polka Dot Shorts

05. ASOS Rokoko Tie Bandeau Two-piece

06. Missguided Polka Dot Wrap Front Top

I picked these 6 items because they all give off a minimalist feel, while still participating in the polka dot trend. I think they’re super chic and I am sure we’re going to be seeing a lot more polka dot pieces this summer.

5 Things I Learned From Doing a 5-Day Juice Cleanse

I’ve wanted to do a juice cleanse for awhile, and even have a juicer at home (which I love), but I guess I just never got around to actually doing one.

If you’ve ever juiced at home before then you know it is time consuming. Don’t get me wrong, I love making juice at home, but to make enough for a whole 5-day cleanse… AKA 30 juices! No, I’m not about all that. One or two at a time is quite enough for me.

However, I recently partnered up with Jus by Julie and completed their juice cleanse a few weeks ago, and this is what I learned:

01. It Was Hard (But Worth It)!

I always knew doing a juice cleanse wouldn’t be a piece of cake. I mean, after all, you’re not eating anything for 5 days and only consuming liquids. But, I quickly realized how much I enjoyed having something warm in my tummy and not just cold liquids. I actually added steamed Broccoli and other non-starchy veggies to my cleanse so I could finish it without feeling deprived – this helped a lot!

02. It Helped With Bloating + Curbed Cravings

This is the worth it part! After even just one day of doing the cleanse, my jeans fit looser, my stomach was flatter and I was much more comfortable. I also wasn’t craving tons of sugars and carbs…. which is always a plus in my opinion.

 03. I am Mindlessly Addicted to Caffeine… Even Though It Doesn’t Do Anything for Me

During the cleanse, you cannot drink coffee/caffeine! At first I was unsure how I was even going to make it through. After day two, though, I realized I am so accustomed to grabbing coffee in the morning (or at that 3 PM crash), even though it doesn’t even give me any energy and it is purely out of habit. I am actually going through an elimination diet now to identify food allergies and intolerances of mine, and again, coffee is a no-go. I think I’ll try my best to just avoid it as much as possible from here on out.

 04. A 3-Day Cleanse May Be More Appropriate for Most

I found that it was more important to me to listen to my body than follow a strict plan. That being said, after day 3 I was just hungry and wanted food. I called it quits after day 3 and began eating foods again. So, unless you have more discipline than I do, you’re planning on not working out during the cleanse, or you just still aren’t hungry after day 3, I’d say a 3 day cleanse is the perfect amount of time to get the benefits of the cleanse without feeling deprived, but again, that’s just in my opinion.

05. The Juices Were Actually Really Good

Even when I make juice at home, I really have to play around with what I decide to juice to come up with the perfect combinations to make it taste yummy. I usually add pineapple to green juices because it makes them sweeter, and makes them not taste so healthy haha. But honestly, all the the juices in this cleanse were really good. I was pleasantly surprised… you’d never know they were slammed pack full of fruits and veggies. My favorite juice was Green Radiance… and FYI…Spicy Lemonade has a kick to it, haha!

If you’ve never done a juice cleanse before, I’d definitely recommend doing one. It’s a nice reset in my opinion. Have you ever done one? Thinking about one? Share your thoughts below!
